Primera Division: Real Madrid – CA Osasuna

There are five La Liga matches scheduled for Saturday, including the game between Real Madrid and CA Osasuna. Last year, Los Blancos finished in the runners-up spot (just one point behind the winners and their biggest rivals Barcelona) and they are determined to avenge this tight but painful defeat this year. Unfortunately for Real, they are still without their key forward Ronaldo who has not recovered from his knee injury yet. Osasuna, on the other hand, have more modest ambitions as one of the newly-promoted teams. Starting at 4 PM (CET), the Saturday match between Real and Osasuna will be played at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid.

Real Madrid

Unlike some other European football giants, Real were not too active in the summer transfer window so their current squad is almost identical to the one they had last year. Los Blancos had a difficult summer preparation as several of their key players were out due to injuries. Some of them have already returned to the squad but some still remain on the sidelines, including their key attackers Ronaldo and Benzema. Yet, despite these difficulties, Real managed to kick off the season in style as they won the Spanish Supercup after beating Sevilla 3:2 in their season opener and they have been keeping up the winning series in La Liga too. Madrid claimed a comfortable win over Sociedad (3:0) in the first round and they defeated Celta Vigo (2:1) in their next duel. Real will not be able to deploy their strongest line-up in the Saturday match against Osasuna but they are still huge favourites of the clash.

CA Osasuna

Last year, Osasuna played the second highest competition where they actually finished as low as in the sixth spot, which sent them in the promotion play-offs with other three teams – Cordoba, Girona and Gymnastics. However, Osasuna delivered a great performance in the play-offs, claiming the last promotion spot after beating Girona (3:1 on aggregate) in the final. In the new La Liga season, the Pamplona-based team have played two games so far. In their opening match, they produced a 1:1 draw in an away game at Malaga but they failed to claim any points in the next round as they lost to Sociedad (0:2). Osasuna are one of the novices this year but they played Primera Division regularly in the past and they even produced several memorable victories over Real Madrid, who they will face in their next match. Let us see if they can beat the odds again and steal some points from the Madrid favourites.

Summary

Real Madrid will continue their quest for the league title on Saturday when they will host one of the league outsiders Osasuna. Combined with their wins produced at the end of the last season, Real have been on a stunning 10-match winning streak and they are expected to extend this impressive series. Osasuna, on the other hand, can take this game easy as they have nothing to lose. To find out if Zidane´s men really meet the expectations and clinch another easy victory, we will have to wait until Saturday night.
