Friendly match: England – Netherlands

On Tuesday, the series of international friendly matches will be wrapped up with 17 games including the blockbuster between two European giants England and the Netherlands. While they both rank among the most successful sides of the old continent, their current form can hardly be more different. The English literally breezed through the EURO qualification with a flawless score of 10 wins in 10 games, looking to produce a major achievement at the upcoming tournament but the Dutch experienced what can only be described as a total failure in their qualifying campaign as they ended up fourth in a group they were originally supposed to win. With that said, it comes as no surprise that it is the English team who will be the favourite of the Tuesday clash that will take place at the Wembley Stadium in London.

England

With a number of talented players in almost all positions for the first time in years, England have been getting into a really formidable shape ahead of the final EURO tournament. Boasting fabulous qualifying results, the English want to claim a medal in France and they picked their preparatory matches accordingly. In the first friendly game, they travelled to Germany to take on the reigning world champions. The home team were already leading 2:0 in the fixture but the Three Lions put on a stunning finish, overturning the score via Kane, Vardy and Dier. Eventually, England won the highly prestigious clash 3:2, claiming scalp of the biggest favourites to win the EURO. Both of the team´s two attacking stars Leicester´s Vardy and Tottenham´s Kane (who are currently also the top scorers of the Premier League) gave a very good performance in the match and they are quite likely to extend their goal tally in the next duel against the ailing Dutch.

Netherlands

The Holland national team have been through a way less elated time. Although the Dutch still have a number of top-class players in their squad, they did unexpectedly miserable in their qualification group, ending up as low as in the fourth spot behind the Czech Republic, Iceland and Turkey. Despite not having qualified for the tournament, Blind´s team have also arranged top-notch sides only as their opponents for their friendly games. In the first match, the Dutch faced the EURO 2016 hosts France but not even the home advantage helped them produce a good result in the fixture. Oranjes lost 2:3 to their rivals, suffering their fifth loss in the last eight games. On Tuesday, they will have a great opportunity to restore their ruined reputation as they will take on England who they have a good record against. Out of the last 9 head-to-head matches between these two sides, the Dutch lost just one. Nevertheless, most of the games resulted in draws and while Blind´s team would be happy with a draw this time, this outcome is not very likely in the Tuesday match.

Summary

A great clash of two traditional rivals is to be watched and bet on in London as England and the Netherlands will battle it out in an international friendly game. In terms of big names and individual quality, the teams are comparable but the current form is definitely on the home team´s side. After beating the Germans in their last friendly match, the English are ready to down another renowned opponent in their preparation for their EURO 2016 campaign. Will they really manage to defeat the Dutch? Or will the game end up in another draw? We will know by Tuesday night.
