Friendly match: Turkey - Sweden

Another great friendly fixture to be enjoyed on Thursday, the clash between Turkey and Sweden will be one of the highlights of this week´s friendly internationals. Both Turkey and Sweden have made it to the final stage of the European Championship where they will be aspiring to make it to the knock-out stage at least. In terms of their outfits´ quality, the teams are comparable but Turkey are known for their frenetic home crowd, which might give them the decisive advantage to win this great battle. Starting at 7:45 PM (CET), the friendly match Turkey vs. Sweden will be played at the Antalya Arena in Antalya, Turkey.

Turkey

Along with the Netherlands, Turkey were regarded the biggest favourites of the qualifying group A but after a few unexpected setbacks from an early stage of the qualification, they had hard times chasing one of the two top spots. Eventually, the Turks finished third but they were lucky enough to have the best score of all third-placed teams, which booked them coveted spot at the final tournament. But truth to be told, Terim´s side got in a really great form in their last games, claiming impressive wins over strong opponents including the Netherlands or the group winners Czech Republic. In fact, Turkey have been unbeaten in their last ten matches (including friendly games) and will surely do their best to extend this stunning run. Led by FC Barcelona´s star Arda Turan, Turkey are a great and highly competitive team with excellent home record, which makes them the favourites of the Thursday clash.

Sweden

Just like their Thursday opponents, Sweden also ended up in the third place in their qualifying group but they had to fight for the advancement in the tricky play-offs where they faced their regional rivals Denmark. The Swedes had the upper hand in this prestigious Scandinavian tie as they beat the Danes 4:3 on aggregate. As many as three of the four goals they produced in the tie were actually scored by just one player – the biggest star of the team Zlatan Ibrahimovic who has been in an excellent form in PSG where he currently plays. For the upcoming duel against Turkey, Sweden´ coach Hamren brought the strongest team he had at his disposal with only three players from the domestic league, suggesting he has no intention of underestimating the importance of the game at all. Nevertheless, beating the Turks on their soil will be very hard and if we look back in history, a draw might be a likely outcome of the fixture as four out of the last seven matches between these two sides ended up in ties.

Summary

After beating their rivals Denmark in the qualification play-offs, Sweden are looking keep in shape prior to the final tournament. In preparation for EURO, they arranged two friendly games against high-profile opponents Turkey and the Czech Republic. But Turkey, who they will face in the first match, have been in a great form as well and they are planning to make the home advantage count in the fixture. Can Zlatan and his teammates deal with the frantic atmosphere the Turkish fans can create and claim a win in this attractive game? We will know by Thursday night.
